The beaches, pools and parties wouldn’t be complete without this one, Bir Bintang (Bintang Beer) which literally means Star Beer.
Locally made in Indonesia, it is a pilsner styled as an yellow colored American Pale Lager, best served ice-cold. It has 5% alcohol content and considered light beer. It tastes similar to Heineken due to the fact that it’s a localized version of Heineken from the brewery constructed in Surabaya in 1929 during Dutch colonial period. Following Indonesian independence on 1945, the brewery were taken over by Indonesian and later renamed to several other names which at the end was well known by local people by Bir Bintang.
Bintang beer is available in all places permitted to sell alcoholic beverage, mostly in big convenient store and restaurant. It used to be sold by smaller convenient stores as well however recent regulation change prohibit them from selling alcohol. It can be consumed everywhere in Bali with the exception of religious place for instance temples, mosques and churches.
